About Us -
Maxine and Scotty Bennett, mother and son, opened the first store on Sherry Lane in Dallas in 1973. Built into a true family endeavor, Scotty's now ex-wife Charlotte and Maxine's daughter Beverly later joined the business. With Charlotte's retirement several years ago and Scotty's death in 2018, Maxine and Beverly continue to run the business. Maxine (at an astounding 98 years old) and Beverly are present in the store every day providing our customers with the personal touch missing from most shopping experiences.
Our core team of four is rounded out with Laura Thompsen, store manager, and Sherry Ward, marketing manager and webmaster. They have been with the company for over 40 years combined and have essentially been adopted into the family. Laura started out as a customer before switching from a career in printing to working at Castle Gap and feeding her passion - Native American jewelry. Sherry, half Creek indian herself, worked a Summer while in college and returned after college to become an essential part of the Castle Gap family.

The Castle Gap Legend -
Castle Gap Historical Park
Castle Gap Historial Park
Castle Gap historical marker
Maxine, Scotty, and Beverly grew up in the West Texas town of Midland near the Castle Gap pass through Castle Mountains, the store's namesake. According to legend, as many as eight treasures have been lost or buried in Castle Gap over the centuries from gold cached by Francisco Vasquez de Coronado in 1540 to the treasure of Mexican emperor Maximilian in 1867. Over the years countless people and treasure hunters have ventured to Castle Gap in search of those riches including the entire extended Bennett family (the business owners, their children, and their grandchildren).
The owners of Castle Gap Jewelry named the store after Castle Gap because they view the store as their personal treasure just as customers can find untold treasure within the doors here at Castle Gap Jewelry.
